Message From the Principal Principal Alan Sherry

Welcome to John Wheatley College’s new look website. We hope this will provide you with most of the information you'll need on your learning journey with us.

We believe that skills and learning are important, especially when it comes to finding or retaining a job in these challenging times. In Glasgow today, there are many opportunities out there which are associated with the Clyde Gateway Initiative and, of course, the Commonwealth Games. The College is here to help you make the best of yourself in a competitive jobs market or help you to progress in your learning.

Just as important, though, are the personal skills you can develop while at college - self-esteem and respect, team working, communication, increased confidence and independence. These are key elements of the Curriculum for Excellence reforms and the skills needed for lifelong learning.

With the College's reputation for friendliness and approachability, College staff understand the concerns which many learners have when they decide to return to learning.  We're here to help and support each learner during their time with us.

The range of programmes available at John Wheatley College is designed to meet the needs of learners of all ages and all levels of ability, from introductory tasters to more advanced level qualifications with part-time and full-time options.  For many of our learners, classes will continue to be free of charge or their fees will be highly subsidised - details about finance and the grants available can be given by the College's Advice Team.

We offer a wide range of vocational and core skills programmes from our two main campuses.  There is also a variety of popular programmes in creative skills running in collaboration with The Bridge, the College's neighbour in Easterhouse, which is operated in partnership with Glasgow Life and Platform.
Our modern and award-winning campus buildings provide a comfortable environment for learning.

They each have a broad range of facilities and services to help you during your studies, including access to well-stocked libraries, state-of-the-art computing technology and excellent childcare facilities. Our commitment to you is to provide a high quality and enjoyable learning experience.

Browsing our website should give you much of the information you need, but if you'd like to know more or want to speak to one of our well-informed staff, ring our Advice Team on 0141-588 1500.

We also welcome campus visits from potential learners. You can come in, have a look around and talk to our staff and current learners to get a better idea of how the College can help you get into learning.  We're sure you'll find a college that puts YOU at the centre of its services.
