Support Services: College Advice Team

Advice is available for all College students. There are Advice Centres in both the Eastend and Easterhouse campuses.

Students experiencing difficulties, whether of a personal or academic nature should contact, in the first instance, their class lecturer or tutor for help and advice.

Additional support throughout your time at College is available from the College Advice Team:

  • Andrew Macdougall
  • Graham Thomson
  • Anne-Marie MacLeod
  • Christopher Tucker
  • Monica McKerlie
Advice Team

The staff are available at both campuses as required and can offer wide ranging information on further programmes, finance, welfare issues, job seeking and details of the College itself. They will be pleased to help with enquiries and refer you to other agencies if requested.

Please don’t drop out………..

You will have fully discussed the content of your programme at the pre-entry stage and hopefully you will find you have made the right choice. However, the College understands that there are many issues which students face and our staff are approached many times throughout the academic year by students who have hit upon problems. Do not hesitate to speak with a member of staff if you have any concerns.

If you experience any difficulties with the content or level of work involved, you should contact your classroom lecturer in the first instance.

In addition, if you are experiencing difficulties out with the College or if the programme does not meet your expectations, please come and discuss these with the Advice Team. If appropriate, this can remain completely confidential. Remember they are there to help.

To contact the Advice Team:

  • call them on 0141 588 1500
  • email them on advice@jwheatley.ac.uk
  • drop in to their office on the ground floor, at both the East End and Easterhouse Campuses
  • or you can fill in this form.

Chaplaincy

The College’s Advice Team is available to provide practical support to students and, in appropriate circumstances, can provide information on other organisations should the student require additional support. The College has wellestablished links with faith organisations throughout Glasgow and can refer students to clergy if such support is needed. The College has accommodation which can be made available for prayer or religious observance. More details are available on request.
